The never ending story of how a faux coin forked itself into an alternative reality

Four and a half years ago my first feature length film landed on the internet. Titled The Fakefluencer, it documented lead character Tom Gillespie’s journey into the heart of crypto culture.

After falling victim to an online Cryptocurrency scam, ex-currency trader Tom Gillespie sets out to investigate the mysterious founder behind Scootercoin.

Traveling across the world and deep into the heart of Cryptocurrency culture; and in hopes of kick starting his TV career, Tom discovers the Crypto economy is not so different from the economy we all operate in.

In the process of producing The Fakefluencer a good friend and long time Bitcoiner Linus took it upon himself to bring an integral component of the story to life for real.

Forking his then passion project Kibicoin, a PoW fork of Litecoin into Scootercoin, what was at the time a fictional Altcoin peddled by a crypto influencer we had created named Bitman360. At the time it was a fun play-on and commentary on the mixed realities people in crypto frequent and a sort of tasty morsel for those who clicked a little deeper, could come to learn was actually trading against Bitcoin.

A few years later Scootecoin was again forked into a PoS Altcoin and over time developed its own rich on-chain history due to the playfulness and relentless curiously of its founding memebers.

When Scootercoin first launched we figured it was likely the first Altcoin to emerge from a fictional feature film with a dedicated character and it was interesting to see this model become replicated arguably with much more economic success than Scootercoin however, as with many a creative endeavour the gains were not the sole motivation but more of a happy side effect should it ever occur.

Well, here we are four and a half years later on V3 of Scootercoin with its latest release being that of a PRC-20 token on Pulsechain, as part of the Indikin project currently being rolled out to the natives on Pulsechain. Why did this occur? you may wonder, well it’s all linked back to the lead character I wrote into The Fakefluencer – Tom Gillespie.

Some years after The Fakefluencer I released a documentary series titled Hexcians & The Time Value of Money, which was received rather well by the Hexican community, and later as the founder of that crypto project launched his own Blockchain called Pulsechain some of the Hexicans helped Tom launch his own token on Pulsechain called GDAY.

It’s from here we come full circle back to Scootercoin and how it ended up launched for the third time, this time on Pulsechain as part of the Indikin project. Scootercoin is now representative of Bitjoin Studios (as a production house) under the ticker $SCOOT and along with Toms $GDAY token and a handful of other forward thinking filmmakers and their tokens makes up the Indikin Filmmaker token index.

I think it’s super fun to think about how far we have come with not only my film productions but my understanding and joyful application of new DeFi technologies, that over the years I have been exposed to through the very activity of making films and documentaries.

It’s been an endless networking, self-development and productive process that has led to many failures and equally created just as many new opportunities.

This is why I’m super excited by the opportunity presented by Indikin, Scootercoin V3 and the amazing network we have built over the past years.

You have made it to the end of the post and will have noticed it’s not a shill post, you choose what you do with your hard earned cash and you choose where you place your attention.

But if you do want to participate in the next chapter of Bitjoin Studios, the chapter where we finally become a decentralised production house in a distributed network of smart contracts, filmmaker tokens, instant split revenues and time spent with some of the most enjoyable creative people ever to have moved mountains together; you are probably going to enjoy where we’re heading.

Indikin.online is launching and Scootercoin enthusiasts are most welcome.
